Multi-user licenses are also available from the Capture One web shop or from your retailer. Please read the release notes carefully before you install Capture One.

Install on Windows

To install the software please follow the procedure below.

1. Download the application from the Capture One website.
2. Run the executable software install file (.exe).
3. Carefully read and accept the license agreement presented.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Capture One will initiate the installation of Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7 if you do not already have it.

Install on macOS

To install the software please follow the procedure below.

1. Download the application from the Capture One website.
2. Open the Capture One disk icon (.dmg).
3. Carefully read and accept the license agreement presented.
4. Drag the Capture One icon to the Applications folder.
5. Open Capture One from your Applications folder.

Manual update to the latest version

It is important to keep Capture One software updated. After the activation and registration, you will usually receive a newsletter reminder that an update is ready for download, although it can be more convenient to choose Capture One -> Check for Updates (Help -> Check for Updates on Windows). If your Capture One application is downloaded from www.captureone.com, it will always be the latest version. You can also schedule an automated update if needed by navigating to Capture One -> Preferences (Edit -> Preferences on Windows).

Bug Fixes Windows

• Fixed an issue where Color Balance settings could disappear from images.
• Fixed an issue where the edits in Basic Color Editor were not precise enough in the overlapping colors.
• Fixed an issue where previewing Styles on large batches of images could have a significant lag.

Feature walkthrough

Style BrushesStyle Brushes is a new concept in Capture One that allows applying local adjustments directly on the image without having to create a Layer and specify the adjustments manually.

When you first stroke on the image, a corresponding Adjustment Layer is created with the adjustments embedded in the Style Brush as well as its name. This allows for a swift workflow where manual Layer creation becomes obsolete. Selecting and using another Style Brush will repeat this behaviour.

Import ViewerThe Importer has the option of displaying images in an Import Viewer as addition to the standard thumbnail grid view. The new Import Viewer allows sorting of images directly in the importer for fast culling, eliminating the need to later delete unwanted images from the Catalog or Session. This optimises the workflow as image transfer and preview generation are reduced to only the images needed. The Import Viewer has minimal to no waiting time when switching between images, even if they are located on an external device such as a memory card.

To open the Import Viewer in the importer, simply double click an image, click the Viewer icon in the top left of the importer or hit G on the keyboard. Switch back to the Grid View by clicking the Viewer icon or hitting G on the keyboard.

By default, all images are picked for import. Unpicking all images can be done by deselecting Pick All in the bottom of the importer.

Use the following keyboard shortcuts to pick or unpick images:

S : Pick imageA: Unpick imageSpacebar: Toggle pick/unpick

The picked state of images is not persisted when closing the importer.

The Import Viewer utilizes the built-in preview of RAW files. The resolution and colors of this preview is dependent on the individual camera model and settings, and do not necessarily reflect how the file will look once imported.

With Capture One 21 (14.0.0) we introduced the ProStandard profiles. A new type of camera profile that render colors more naturally.

Recommended system requirementsIf working with high-resolution images and doing calculation-heavy adjustments we recommend the following:

• Intel CPU with 4+ cores
• 16+ GB of RAM
• Solid State Disk (SSD)
• NVIDIA or AMD GPU with 8GB+ RAM
• Calibrated monitor with at least 1920×1200, 24-bit resolution at 96dpi 

4k / 5k monitors Due to the significant additional calculation overhead, systems using 4k/5k monitors will require additional resources in addition to the above-recommended spec (both in GPU and CPU power). For professional experience, we recommend at least doubling the specification above for these configurations.

Improvements

Show Images in Subfolders (Catalogs) Catalogs now have the functionality of showing the content of the selected folder including the content of all its subfolders. This enables an easier overview of images across multiple folders and strengthens the flexibility of asset management.

By default, Show Images in Subfolders is enabled. You can toggle the functionality from the Tool Submenu (…). 

Synchronize new SubfoldersIt is now possible to synchronize new subfolders into your Catalog by simply synchronizing their parent folder. When synchronizing, two new options have been added:

Include Subfolders Enabling this will include all folders within the folder that is being synchronized. The content of these subfolders will be added to the Catalog as well.

Only include previously added subfoldersEnabling this will ignore any subfolders that are not already added to the Catalog. This was the default behavior of synchronizing prior to Capture One 21 (14.3.0).

Overwrite existing files on exportThe redesigned Exporter has new functionality that allows overwriting existing exported files when exporting images. This speeds up the process of updating already exported images with newer versions. The item Existing Files has three options:

— Add Suffix will add a number to the filename, leaving multiple files after exporting.

— Overwrite will replace the existing files, leaving only a single exported file per image.

— Skip will skip exporting images that already have an exported file in the target location.

NB: If multiple variants of the same images are being exported, enabling Overwrite will cause only the last variant to remain. To circumvent this, add the token Variant Position in the format field within the Naming Tool.

Various tethering improvements

Fujifilm capture during Live View While tethering LiveView with Fujifilm cameras, it is now possible to trigger an exposure from within Capture One.

Leica Focus Nudge Using compatible Leica cameras and lenses, it is now possible to tweak the focus in three different intervals using the Focus Nudge tool.

Dehaze

Для меня профессиональный инструмент не является полноценным без возможностей кастомизации и настройки «под себя».

В Capture One вы можете изменить вид всего и вся, начиная от расположения элементов интерфейса и заканчивая функционалом каждой вкладки с инструментами обработки.

Как это можно (и нужно) использовать в работе?

Для начала расположим все элементы интерфейса в удобном порядке.

Теперь оптимизируем наше рабочее пространство (workspace) под обработку, скажем, репортажной съемки.

Что важнее всего иметь под рукой во время обработки репортажа?

Конечно, это настройки экспозиции, баланса белого и функция Rotation для быстрой корректировки горизонта.

Проблема в том, что в большинстве программ эти инструменты находятся в разных тематических вкладках.

Так и в Capture One. Но С1 позволяет переместить любой функционал в любое место интерфейса.

Поэтому мы можем просто взять и перетащить все нужные инструменты в одну вкладку:

Таким образом, все необходимые инструменты обработки репортажных кадров мы имеем в быстром доступе:

Теперь мы сохраним все это счастье в отдельный workspace (назовем его «репортажный») и в любой момент сможем вернуться к таким настройкам интерфейса.

Аналогичным образом можно создать workspace для обработки студийных кадров или, например, пейзажной съемки.

О том, что все функции Capture One управляются и через настраиваемые хоткеи, думаю, и говорить не надо. Это стандарт для любой программы профессионального уровня.

Оптимизация рабочего интерфейса экономит лишь доли секунды во время обработки, но эти секунды выливаются в часы сэкономленного времени, если вы работаете с большим объемом фотографий.

В прошлых версиях Capture One, контраст был очень удобным инструментом, но с одним значительным недостатком — при сильном воздействии, цвет картинки становился перенасыщенным.

Просмотр фотографий в подпапках

Начнём с того, что в каталоге теперь можно просматривать фотографии внутри всех подпапок одной папки!

Это особенно важно бывшим пользователям Lightroom, которым сильного не хватало просмотра подпапок в Capture One.
Если вам это наоборот неудобно, новый режим просмотра можно легко отключить

Синхронизация новых подпапок

Кроме этого, Capture One теперь позволяет синхронизировать новые подпапки в каталог.

Просто кликните правым щелчком мыши по папке, нажмите Синхронизировать и выберите Include subfolders (Учитывать подпапки).
А для синхронизации только добавленных падпапок, выберите Only include previously added subfolders (Учитывать только ранее добавленные подпапки)

Наконец, разработчики добавили возможность съёмки из режима Live View для камер Fujifilm.
Также несколько камер и объективов Leica получили поддержку инструмента Focus Nudge в Capture One.

Новая Brightness

Возможно, вы тоже заметили, что Brightness (Яркость) в последние годы практически полностью исчезла из «главного» набора инструментов обработки.
Ее место прочно заняли мощные Exposure (Экспозиция) и HDR, но с выходом Capture One 9 эта ситуация может измениться.

Движок Brightness в новом Capture One полностью поменялся: теперь яркость работает намного мягче и аккуратнее.
Новая Яркость похожа на своеобразную смесь Exposure, HDR и воздействия на средние тона в кривых.

Brightness действительно сильно изменилась и, возможно, это позволит Яркости вновь стать важным инструментом обработки.
