Full Keyboard Navigation and Control

Full keyboard navigation gives the users the ability to perform all input via a keyboard, without using a mouse or other pointing device.

The features that most notably enhance accessibility include:

• Comprehensive definitions of keyboard shortcuts in the different applications;
• Full keyboard access to toolbars;
• Keyboard-enabled switching between document windows, menus, toolbars, modeless dialogs and floating windows;
• Enhanced keyboard navigation in text documents and online help to navigate and activate hyperlinks;
• Menu and toolbar items for accessing functions which where only accessible via mouse device;
• Disabled menu items are displayed by default;
• You can access help tips via keyboard;
• You can set the duration for the display of help tips;
• Keyboard access for Drawing Objects:
  • Drawing objects can be inserted via toolbar with default position and size;
  • Each handle of a drawing object can be selected and controlled via keyboard separately, so even polygon manipulation is possible;
• Particular attention has been given to accessibility in dialog boxes, including:
  • the toolbar customization dialog;
  • extensive CSV import control for spreadsheets.

License Grants and Conditions

2.1. Grants

Each Contributor hereby grants You a world-wide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license:

Подключиться к серверу – откроется диалоговое окно, позволяющее подключиться к удаленному серверу, если искомый документ находится не на вашем компьютере. Это одна из не самых очевидных функций LibreOffice, она позволяет, в том числе, подключаться к таким сервисам как: Яндекс Диск, Google Drive (Документы) и некоторым другим. На уровень вверх – показывает содержимое каталога, расположенного выше в файловой иерархии относительно текущего. Нажмите и удерживайте кнопку мыши на этом значке до появления выпадающего списка всех выше расположенных в иерархии (по отношению к текущему) каталогов. Переместите курсор к нужному каталогу и отпустите кнопку мыши для перехода в него.

Assistive Technology

API for Supporting Assistive Technologies

Assistive Technology (AT) tools such as screen readers and magnifiers, as well as other tools, connect to LibreOffice using the Java Accessibility API (JAA) via the Java Access Bridge for Windows or GNOME.

LibreOffice has a UNO Accessibility API (UAA) in which all elements of the UI and documents expose all the information about themselves and their contents.

UAA and JAA have some advantages over the off-screen models of AT tools or the Microsoft Active Accessibility API (MSAA). UAA and JAA provide extended information for the document content, so AT tools do not have to get information via different proprietary application APIs from various applications, or by hooking into the display drivers.

An enormous effort has been made to have UI elements and document contents fully support the accessibility interfaces; for example: providing text with attributes and character bounds information, and sending all the necessary notifications and providing names and descriptions of controls.

All AT tools which are able to work with Java applications via the Java Access Bridge will also run with LibreOffice.

The Java Accessibility API is supported by the most popular AT tools including:

• JAWS Screen Reader;
• ZoomText Screen Reader and Magnifier;
• Gnopernicus Screen Reader and Magnifier;
• GNOME On Screen Keyboard (GOK).

Some AT tools send key events to the applications via the message loop, or simply control the mouse, so it makes no difference for the application if the input comes from a user or from an AT tool.

This way, a lot of AT tools such as simple on-screen keyboards, head mice, eye tracking devices and single switches can be used with LibreOffice.

Support for Comfortable Reading of Read-Only Documents

Screen reader users sometimes have difficulty reading read-only documents because they cannot navigate with the cursor through the document.

For this, there is the feature «Use text selection cursor in read-only text documents».

Other AT features

• Floating windows, dialogs and menus are system windows;
• Every individual drawing object can have a name;
• All sample documents and templates are enhanced to provide names and descriptions for drawing objects.

Ускоряем LibreOffice

Некоторые из настроек могут уменьшить время загрузки LibreOffice и скорость ее работы. Однако, потребление оперативной памяти тоже возрастет. Эти настройки можно найти в меню Сервис > Параметры.

• В закладке Память:
  • Снизьте число шагов, на которое можно вернуться при редактировании, например 20 или 30.
  • Установить Использовать для LibreOffice равным 128МБ
  • Установите Памяти на объект равным 20МБ
  • Если Вы часто применяете LibreOffice, проверьте, что используется Quickstarter (использовать быстрый запуск).
• В закладке Расширенные возможности, снимите галочку с Use a Java runtime environment (использовать виртуальную машину java).

Base как фронтенд для базы данных

Base можно использовать в качестве фронтенда для базы данных вроде PostgreSQL. Он не может изменять таблицы, но даёт хороший обзор столбцов и строк таблицы с возможностью скрытия столбцов. Он также позволяет использовать фильтры, удалять по несколько строк с помощью их выделения и удобно редактировать отдельные ячейки.

Он также помогает составлять SQL-запросы в удобном GUI.

Colors and Fonts

Use of System Color Schemes, High Contrast

LibreOffice adapts to the color schemes and contrast display settings of the operating system.

In addition, LibreOffice offers additional settings for colors which are not specified in any system color schemes, as well as the possibility to overwrite colors from the current color scheme. You can also create and store your own color schemes in LibreOffice.

The help system respects the colors from the current color scheme, but also provides different predefined styles. Users can customize the formatting of the help content via the XSL transformation file, as well as via the custom style sheet file located in the help directory.

Automatic Text Color

All LibreOffice applications support automatic text color for documents and use this by default, so the text is always distinguishable from the background color.

The text will be displayed in the system text color. If this leads to dark text on a dark background, or bright text on a bright background, the text will switch to black or white (according to whichever provides better contrast).

For reading old or imported documents which use hard-formatted text colors, you can use the option «Use automatic font color for screen display». All text content as well as table borders and some other elements will be displayed in the automatic font color.

Icons and Bitmaps

LibreOffice has icon sets for small and large toolbar icons in normal and in high contrast mode, so the icons are more easily identifiable in the different modes.

All UI elements displaying a graphic offer an alternative graphic for high contrast mode.

LibreOffice automatically chooses the set of icons and graphics appropriate for the current system settings.

High Contrast Mode for Impress and Draw

Impress and Draw offer a high-contrast mode, in which objects are displayed without fill colors or text colors.

This mode will automatically be used when high contrast is chosen in the system settings. You can turn off this automatic detection in the LibreOffice options under “Accessibility “.

System Font

LibreOffice can use the operating system font for the user interface, so that LibreOffice appears in the same font as your other applications and can be manipulated via the system settings.

There is special handling to ensure that dialogs do not become larger than the screen when schemes with large fonts are chosen.

Other Legibility Features

• Highlighted toolbar and menu items are easily perceptible;
• There is distinct highlighting of current column and row in spreadsheets;
• You can turn on/off animations for graphics and text.

Самый распространенный способ запуска любого компонента LibreOffice это использование системного меню из которого запускается большинство приложений. В Windows — это меню Пуск. В GNOME – это меню приложений. В KDE – оно обозначено логотипом KDE. В Mac OS X – меню приложений.

При установке LibreOffice на компьютер, кнопки запуска всех компонентов LibreOffice автоматически добавляются в системное меню операционных систем. На компьютерах под управлением Mac OS X, в меню добавляется только пункт меню LibreOffice.

При нажатии на пункт меню LibreOffice открывается стартовый экран LibreOffice, в котором можно выбрать любой компонент LibreOffice. Также можно выбрать пункт Открыть файл или использовать Шаблоны.

Также LibreOffice можно запустить, дважды нажав левой кнопкой мыши на документе в файловом менеджере вашей операционной системы (например для ОС Windows это Проводник). Будет запущен соответствующий компонент LibreOffice и документ откроется в нём.

Если на компьютере установлен Microsoft Office и при установке LibreOffice были настроены ассоциации файлов Microsoft Office (подробнее смотрите Приложение Б) с LibreOffice, то при двойном нажатии на файл:

• Для файлов Word ( или ), они откроются в компоненте Writer;
• Для файлов Excel ( или ), они откроются в компоненте Calc;
• Для файлов PowerPoint ( или ), они откроются в компоненте Impress.

Если ассоциации файлов Microsoft Office не были настроены и он установлен на компьютере, то при попытке открыть файл Microsoft Office будет использован соответствующий компонент Microsoft Office.

Быстрый запуск в Windows и Linux

LibreOffice включает в себя функцию Быстрого запуска (Quickstarter). При её активации в системном лотке (трее) появляется значок , а LibreOffice загружается в оперативную память при старте операционной системы, что позволяет достичь более быстрого запуска офисного пакета.

Если Быстрый запуск не активирован, то смотрите раздел для его включения.

Использование Быстрого запуска

Обычно системный лоток (трей) операционной системы располагается в правом нижнем углу, рядом с часами. Одиночное нажатие на иконку Быстрого запуска LibreOffice в системном лотке, открывает меню, из которого можно открыть существующий документ, открыть шаблоны или запустить любой компонент LibreOffice.

Отключение Быстрого запуска

Для отключения функции Быстрого запуска нажмите правой кнопкой мыши по его значку в системном трее и в меню выберите пункт Выход из быстрого запуска. При следующем запуске компьютера компонент будет загружен снова.

Для полного отключения функции Быстрого запуска нажмите правой кнопкой мыши по его значку в системном трее и в меню выберите пункт Отключить быстрый запуск. Или же снимите галочку напротив Использовать быстрый запуск в меню Сервис ‣ Параметры ‣ LibreOffice ‣ Память.

Примечание

На компьютерах с небольшим объемом оперативной памяти целесообразно отключать функцию Быстрого запуска, для ускорения работы компьютера.

Как установить LibreOffice на компьютер

У пакета LibreOffice 6 установка не отличается от более ранних версий. Если вы сомневаетесь, какую версию Либре Офис установить, рекомендуется качать самый свежий релиз: обычно системные требования не отличаются, при этом фиксятся обнаруженные пользователями баги.

В этом случае действует распространенная закономерность: лучшей версией софта обычно является самая свежая.

Перед тем как установить LibreOffice 6, рекомендуется закрыть браузер. В противном случае инсталлятор предложит сделать это в процессе установки.

Алгоритм установки состоит из нескольких этапов. После запуска инсталлятора все, что нужно сделать – нажать кнопку «Далее» в открывшемся окне.

Затем пользователь может выбрать параметры установки – инсталлировать пакет по умолчанию или подключить дополнительные языки и словари. Также можно установить Либре Офис бесплатно не полностью, а отдельные компоненты – например, только текстовый процессор Writer. Это актуально, если вы не собираетесь использовать все программы из пакета и при этом желаете сэкономить место на жестком диске компьютера.

В следующем окне необходимо выбрать дополнительные опции, затем нажать кнопку «Установить».

Далее следует дождаться окончания установки и нажать кнопку «Готово». Теперь можно пользоваться любым из компонентов программы.

Why not provide a hosted service?

The Document Foundation is not planning to develop and fund a cloud solution similar to existing products from Google and Microsoft, because this would require selection and integration of the other technologies needed for deployment — file sharing, authentication, load balancing and so on — which for desktop LibreOffice is part of the operating system provided by the user. This would be a significant growth of scope and not in line with the original mission of the project. The task is therefore left to large deployers, ISPs and providers of open source cloud solutions, and several options are already available on the market. TDF would welcome provision of a public LibreOffice Online offering by another charity.

Inability to Comply Due to Statute or Regulation

If it is impossible for You to comply with any of the terms of this License with respect to some or all of the Covered Software due to statute, judicial order, or regulation then You must: (a) comply with the terms of this License to the maximum extent possible; and (b) describe the limitations and the code they affect. Such description must be placed in a text file included with all distributions of the Covered Software under this License. Except to the extent prohibited by statute or regulation, such description must be sufficiently detailed for a recipient of ordinary skill to be able to understand it.

Collabora Online Development Edition (CODE)

LibreOffice Online has been mainly developed by Collabora. There are packages for Debian, Ubuntu, centOS, openSUSE, Univention Virtual Machines, and docker images of this work available here.

LibreOffice Online in EGroupware

With an EGroupware installation, Collabora Online is installed and configured as a Docker container, and is directly available in EGroupware as a file host. Collabora Online can be exchanged for CODE with a small configuration change. EGroupware Installation with LibreOffice Online

Why is this un-supported?

TDF does not offer end-user support for any of the projects it hosts. End-user collaborative self-help is available at ask.libreoffice.org.

Since LibreOffice Online requires integration with many other technologies to allow deployment, The Document Foundation will not be maintaining binaries for enterprise use. Even if it were reasonable to pre-select all the elements of a deployment stack, providing enterprise production binaries would create expectations which could not be fulfilled by volunteer-based support.

However, builds of the latest code suitable for home users and for contributing to development — which is encouraged — are available. TDF is keen to avoid situations where an unsuitable version is deployed at scale, so when used in what would be likely to imply an enterprise situation — more than 10 concurrent documents and/or more than 20 connections — LibreOffice Online will display a prominent «not supported» warning and a link to this page, while continuing to function.

We encourage others providing un-supported binaries derived from LibreOffice to follow this pattern.

Responsibilities

All distribution of Covered Software in Source Code Form, including any Modifications that You create or to which You contribute, must be under the terms of this License. You must inform recipients that the Source Code Form of the Covered Software is governed by the terms of this License, and how they can obtain a copy of this License.
